Briefing Bullets: Panetta in Portugal

From Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s seaside briefing in Lisbon, Portugal:

ON MALI:

"There is no consideration of putting any American boots on the ground at this time."

ON AFGHANISTAN:

"We will do everything possible to maintain an enduring presence in Afghanistan beyond the end of 2014."

ON AL QAEDA:

"We have to continue the effort to go after al Qaeda where it decides to locate.  There's an al Qaeda presence in Syria that concerns us."
